PESCA PANAMA WAS BACK FISHING THIS WEEK AFTER SEVERAL WEEKS OF DOING REPAIR WORK ON THE THE BARGE AND THE OCEAN MASTER FISHING BOATS. IT SURE FELT GOOD BEING BACK ON THE WATER. THIS WEEK WE WELCOMED BACK A GROUP OF EXCELLENT ANGLERS FROM OKLAHOMA. THIS GROUP LOVES TO FISH LIGHT TACKLE FOR INSHORE SPECIES.

IT WAS A TIME OF EXCITEMENT AND ANTICIPATION. YELLOWFIN TUNA HAD BEEN SPOTTED FEEDING IN THE AREA BETWEEN LADRONES AND MONTUOSA ISLANDS, OUR ANGLERS WERE HEADED THAT WAY. MARK WAS FISHING WITH CAPTAIN TATIN WHEN HE HOOKED UNTO SOMETHING "BIG." THE FISH RAN UNDER THE BOAT, BROKE HIS ROD, THEN BUSTED THE LINE. TALK ABOUT A RUSH OF EXCITEMENT! THIS WAS STACKING UP TO BE QUITE A WEEK. THE BIG YELLOWFIN WERE ONCE AGAIN IN THE AREA ALONG WITH BIG SCHOOLS OF SMALLER TUNA, WAHOO, DORADO, CUBERAS SNAPPERS, AMBER JACK AND A ROOSTERFISH CATCH THROWN IN. THE SEAS WERE, LET'S JUST SAY "BIGGER THAN NORMAL." DESPITE THE WEATHER, OVER THE NEXT SEVERAL DAYS OUR ANGLERS DID MANAGE TO CATCH SOME NICE WAHOO, SEVERAL CUBERA SNAPPERS, HALF A DOZEN YELLOW FIN TUNA, A COUPLE OF SAILFISH AND A 5 FT BLACK TIP SHARK. Fishing Report - 5/13/05
The bite started off 'hot'. While fishing near Isla Ladrones, Kit reported being able to catch all the wahoo you wanted, both on the troll and on jigs. Todd and Gary, fishing with Captain Lucho, caught a 230 lb and a 200 lb yellow fin tuna at Isla Montuosa. Good going guys! Gerry caught an estimated 600 lb black marlin and Jim caught an estimated 500 lb black marlin, both fish were caught and released while fishing with Captain Macho at Hannibal Bank. See More »


Fishing Report - 5/6/05
The water conditions were right and the tuna bite was on with the crew finding fish from just off Punta Hermosa on Coiba to our normal fishing grounds at Montuosa! Ethan was also able to hook-up on the largest fish we have ever hooked, a whale shark. The monster sized animal, reported to be as long as the 27 ft boat, just slid down to the depths of the ocean while our angler and crew could only hang on to the rod and reel. See More »

The one constant here at Coiba is action. Janos and Mike had the battle of the week landing a monster 250lb. Yellow Fin!!! The inshore fishing was dominated with Snook, Cuberas, Roosters and nice size Amberjack! We had the chance to do some great fly fishing and the jury is still out on how many species we landed over the week!!!! See More »

The week started at a good pace with the crew landing 3 Roosters and 2 Cuberas on the first day! Jim was especially happy with the first days action putting his tackle to the test on the largest Rooster of the week at 46lbs! Crawdad could not do any wrong fishing all day and most nights (even fishing at night off the barge). Crawdad was our top inshore angler for the week with 5 Cubera in one day and several nice Roosters. See More »

Five million casts, five broken rods, three languages being spoken, and a dozen or so lost lures. Just another week in Coiba! Although a few did get away, this group had the chance to see Coiba inshore fishing at its best with many explosive top-water strikes a day!! The week was also loaded with inshore action on the iron......These guys have perfected this popular yo-yo/jig technique and as we have found in the past it is super exciting and highly effective! Good numbers of Amberjacks, Cubera Snapper, Rock Snapper, Silk Snapper, Mullet Snapper, and even African Pompano jumped at the jig and gave the guys a good look at the verity of hard fighting fish at Coiba Island! Wahoo was the word, as the bite was in full force at Jicaron. Tuna, great inshore fishing, and a monster Marlin rounded out the week. As the week continued the tuna bite picked up and everyone had the chance to pull on monster Tuna as Team Sergio landed a 266 lb fish, Team Lucho had a 252lb and team Ponchera landed a 170. The week included some sensational catches including non-stop inshore action and world class offshore action! The full moon was on the rise and the fish were hungry at Coiba! Jean and Maryse; who came to Cobia to enjoy the super inshore fishing, were surprised when they found a 291 pound Yellow Fin. The week started out with a bang when Michael Pell, fishing with captain Sergio caught and released an estimated 400 pound black Marlin! The offshore fishing continued to be good with plenty of Sail Fish a few Dorado and several very large Yellow Fin Tuna. Extra large Tuna, Marlin, Sail fish and Dorado! The offshore fishing was on fire last week. The Tuna made the scene in numbers!! Huge schools of baitfish and thousands of Porpoise moved into the shallow shelves that surround Montousa Island. The Porpoise were accompanied by ravenous Tuna, Sail fish, Dorado and Marlin. The Sailfish action continued to be good for the crew on Hannibal bank. We had the chance to see some spectacular Sailfish strikes and land sails on the fly!!! The crew had the chance to experience some of the best top water and jigging action that only the Coiba Island region can produce! Seeing up to twenty Cubera Snapper strikes a day the guys put their tackle to the test, using tremendous drag pressure and landing some monster Cubera Snapper; ripping them off the shallow water reefs. Fishing the second day inside of Ladrones Island, Bobby and I had over twenty strikes and ten releases on Cubera before noon.
