GREETINGS FROM THE TROPICS

"Hoo's, Roosters & Yellowfin"

We had quite an eclectic group this week, joining us was; Peter Thomas and Paul Sherwood from England, Cousins Fabio and Pedro Balbosa from Brazil. Next up our California boys; Don Bowen along with his sons William and Ken, Mike Ameel, John Million, Valmoren "Mike" LaPierre, Dave Matheson, David Bacca and Ricky Zuniga

The first day started out with a bang! Most of our anglers set out towards Montuosa. On the Macho team, Peter set the bar high with a Yellowfin taping out at 220 Lbs. Paul caught Yellowfin in the 60 - 70 class while jigging.

David and Dave bagged a Cubera, Dodo's and Muller Snappers. Don, Bill and Ken hooked into a Black Marlin but lost it during a short run. They also ran into football sized Yellowfin, a Cubera and a 8' hammerhead. Mike, Mike and John helped get their share of football Yellowfin and a Hoo. Fabio and Perdo hit some larger Yellowfin 20lb, 60lb and a 160lb. They pick off a Rooster as well.

Water conditions were improving day by day. Red tide was still apparent in some areas along the coast. Our anglers experienced some Southerly winds along with occasional showers, with light to moderate seas.

Here is the weeks tally:
25 Hoos
59 Yellowfins
15 Roosters
12 Dodos
14 Cuberas
20 Mullet Snapper
12 Blue Trevally
28 Jack Crevalle
3 Amberjacks
14 Rainbow Runner
23 Rock Snapper
1 African Pompano
2 Barracudas
1 Hammerhead Shark
1 Bull Shark
2 White Tip Shark

Here's a highlight of our best catches:
• Peter with his 220 lb. Yellowfin, along with his 500 lb.+ Bull Shark (caught from the
Barge).
• Paul with a 70 lb Hoo, David's 60 lb. Rooster, Dave's 70 lb. Hoo and a 60 lb.+ Rooster.
• Fabio's 110 lb. Yellowfin and a 45 lb. Cubera, Pedro's 90 lb. Yellowfin and a 40 lb.+ Rooster.
• The Bowen Team: 80 - 90 lb. Yellowfin, 45 lb. Cubera, 50 lb. Amberjack, Hammerhead.
• The Dream Team (John, Mike and Mike): 60 - 110 lb. Yellowfins, 60 lb. Hoo. The last day Fabil and Pedro landed 5 Roosterfish while fishing in the Pardias Islands.

So there you have it. The water has cleared up a lot this week and the fishing has responded by also picking up.

TIGHT LINES,
CAPTAIN Ricky Zuniga (Jay was on the beach this week)

FISHING TIP OF THE WEEK: KEEP YOUR LINE TIGHT IS THE TIP OF THE WEEK. SOUNDS SIMPLE DOESN'T IT AND IT IS BUT A LOT OF FISH ARE LOST DUE TO SLACK IN THE LINE. THIS IS SPECIALLY TRUE WHEN CATCHING WAHOO. ANOTHER TIP IS WHEN FISHING FOR WAHOO WITH A TWO SPEED REEL KEEP THE REEL IN HIGH SPEED. WHEN THESE SPEEDSTER REVERSE DIRECTION THE ONLY WAY TO KEEP UP IS IN HIGH SPEED.
