Fishing Report - 03/28/15

A diverse group visited us at Pesca Panama this week: first time fishing with us were Jersey Boys all, Sean and James Cronin, , Richard Warren, Joe Carey Jr, George and James Karr, William Rosen, Ralph Roth, and Michael Budny.  From Brazil we welcomed back old friends Rodrigo and Bruno Rinaldi, pro competitive sailfish angler Igor Assad, and Helio Neto.  Sometimes at week’s end we aren’t fortunate enough to get photos from all of our anglers, and I’m not sure we did this week, but what a diverse bunch of fish the pictures show with this group!  Coiba was rewarding anglers all week for their efforts - casting large poppers and jigging for reef dwelling beasts in this part of the world is an arduous game, but it offers a variety of gamefish not easily accessed elsewhere without undo travel.  Anglers fished using many methods, often playing with feisty smaller fish using lighter gear, but there were plenty of large fish available for the big game addicts.

This week we’re going to do something different - we’re going to let the photos tell the story.  But how about this: the largest yellowfin of the week was 150lbs, many 80-100lbs, and many over 100 lbs were also battled.  More than 40 cubera were carefully released unharmed, something we’re very proud of.  One boat had 32 big jack crevalle in one day, another had Sean Cronin’s first bad boy YFT at 140lbs.  All anglers remember their first big tuna.  It rearranges what you think about what a strong fish is.  Amberjack, broomtail grouper, MANY big roosters, yellow and mullet snapper, cobalt trevally, shark, and more were caught this week.  Enjoy the picture show, and tell your friends about this remarkable place.  We have scattered available openings from now through August and are offering some bargains to get you all out there with us for your first visit.  If you go once, it’s almost impossible not to come back…

Thanks everybody for fishing with Pesca Panama this week.
Hope you had a week you’ll never forget.
