Fishing Report - 02/22/15

Pesca Panama greeted many returning anglers this week.  Our old friend Captain Steve Camara brought a large group of anglers that included Larry Grygiel, Michael Neumire, Peter Gilson,  Leonard, Robert and Jake Lansburgh, father and son Robert and David Tefft,  Mark Snyder,  Paul Klees and Henry Borges. The water color this week was good with a deep blue shade and plenty of bait swimming everywhere.

Our boats went to fish around Paridas Island and they found a big school of crevalle eating sardines.  Michael and Larry caught eleven jack crevalle with the new Daiwa lure, meanwhile Mark and Paul caught six with the same lure with Captain Navas.  The next day we moved the floating lodge to Coiba Island and the anglers went to Montuosa Island when they found plenty of activity. Angler Michael Neumire caught a nice sailfish with live bait. Larry and Peter Gilson reported five white tip shark caught with chunk bait with Captain Jose. In another boat angler Steve released a fifthy pound Roosterfish captured with live bait too. Mark and Paul released seven blue jack, three rock snapper, and a twenty five roosterfish around  Punta Hermosa with Captain Navas. Robert Lansburgh was fishing with his father and brother in motuosa island and caught a fifthy pound Amberjack with chunk bait. They also released a mullet snapper and a small cubera snapper. Tuesday and Wednesday the floating lodge stayed at Coiba Island and the anglers had time to fish in Jicaron Island catching and releasing a huge variety of fishes. Father and son Robert and David captured eigtheen mullet snapper, two kind of jack crevalle, rainbowrunner, and a forthy pound Amberjack with live bait in Jicarita island on the Tito's boat. Peter Gilson cast his popper and caught a fiftheen pound yellowfin tuna. Larry also caught another yellowfin and enjoyed a fresh sashimi that our chef prepared. Mark and Paul ran to Jicaron Island with Captain Navas and reported mullet snapper,  yellow snapper,  rock snapper, a thirty pound cubera snapper and a thirty pound Amberjack. Henry Borges landed his first fifthy pound cubera with live bait around Jicaron island with Captain Tom and also reported another four cuberas up to twenty five pounds, and mullet snapper. Thursday the floating lodge moved back to Paridas Island and the boats went to Montuosa island where they found a marlin bite. They caught and released three black Marlin landed with plastic lures.  Larry, Michael and Peter released the first after a 45 minute battle on the 300 pounder.  The second marlin was landed by fishermen Jake Lansburgh, who used the catch and release technique after only twenty minutes with Captain Johnatan. It also was a 300 pounder.  Paul and Mark released the third marlin after a twenty minute fight. A 200 pounder found with Captain Navas. On the final day we came back to the dock and fished for a few hours on Paridas Island. Anglers again found the school of jack crevalle and the boats reported a total of 88 caught with the smalls lures from Daiwa.
