Fishing Report - 2/17/05

Hello from the tropics,

Warm weather, lots of laughs, some beer, a little river whisky and great fishing......Another great week Coiba style! Joining us from Idaho were Todd Armstrong, Bill Guhrke, Todd Henry, Grant Kolnes, Chris Berthelot, and Bert Bradly. The Idaho boys were joined by their good friends from California, Dave (Diablo Blanco) Newman and Dennis Gasper. The Idaho crew are Alaska Charter Service regulars and decided to have a look at our Panama operation and I think they were happy with what they found!

Tuna, Big Tuna, and Bigger Tuna........This year is shaping up to be a record year for monster Tuna and this week was no exception. Once again our week was dominated by XXL Tuna, Sail Fish, Dorado, and one nice Marlin landed buy good friend, Ramon Revilla, while fishing with Captain Sergio. Big Tides and heavy current had the fish on the bite and the Idaho/California crew was covered up with action from Ladrones to Hannibal Bank. Aggressive Sail Fish and Dorado gave Todd Henry, Todd Armstrong and Bill a run for their money on the fly rod.....Congratulations for some great catches on the fly guys! While Team Ponchera was busy throwing feathers, the rest of the guys went to battle with the Tuna. Wild man, Diablo Blanco, said he came to Panama for Big fish......Big fish is what he got.....hell we lost count on the Tuna Diablo landed. Grant also had his hands full fishing with Captain Macho; on the forth day landing two monster tuna weighting in at an estimated 130 and 230 pounds. Cowboy, Bert Bradly, came looking for Grouper and although we were not able to find his Grouper he did manage to land a nice size Cubera Snapper! It was a fun action packed week thanks, for joining us guys....We will see you in Alaska!
